Banner Raising, Tyler Seguin’s Hat Trick Among Top 10 Moments of Bruins Season
|
10. Turn That Frown Upside Down – There wasn’t much reason for joy at the Garden on April 27 after the Bruins were eliminated by Washington. And Boston goalie Tim Thomas had less reason to smile than anyone after allowing the overtime goal that lifted the Caps to victory in Game 7. But as he skated off the ice following the handshake line, Thomas spotted something that changed his perspective. Seeing his daughter crying in the stands, he skated over to the glass and pantomimed a giant smile to cheer her up in one of the more touching moments of the season. “That was my daughter,” Thomas explained at the club’s breakup day. “She was crying. I understand that she’d be upset, but I didn’t want to see anyone crying over hockey, especially a 7-year-old. Even though we lost, I was just happy they were there and I was able to share the experience. She smiled right away. I hope she kept it there because I didn’t get to see here afterwards, but yes it did [cheer her up]. It made her smile.” |
