Michael Jordan, Dan Marino, Ted Turner Among Top 10 Weirdest Retired Numbers in NBA
1 — Larry Weinberg, Portland Trail Blazers. There is nothing that odd about a team retiring the No. 1 for the most important person in franchise history. The Celtics did the same for longtime owner Walter Brown and the Jazz retired the number for coach and team president Frank Layden. The odd thing about Weinberg’s “retired” number is that No. 1 is still available and was worn by forward Armon Johnson as recently as last season.
